Art of the 21st Century
Friday, 3/3 - 3/31 (5 sessions) 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.
- Kennard African American Cultural Heritage Center
Course Description
Art is a never-ending stream of observations about human nature and how we deal with the world. In the 21st century, the art world is international and artists present a wide range of themes and techniques that help us keep in touch with the world at large. We will look at a variety of artists whose work deals with climate change, gender issues, social justice, immigration, racial themes, defiance of authoritarian governments and other issues. Other artists create work that helps us find peace, quiet, joy and beauty in our chaotic world. No prior knowledge is required for this class. Instructor: Beverly Hall Smith
