Carl Jung & Personality Thoughts (MBTI)

Course Description

This course is designed to introduce the layperson to some of the views of Carl Jung with particular emphasis on a consideration of personality. The course will include brief in-class readings and activities, Socratic seminars, brief lectures and discussion and a consideration of MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator). The cumulation of the course will see each course member reach his or her conclusions regarding Jung and personality. Course Objectives: - Describe major elements and perspectives of Jung and apply those elements to topics in psychology as well as the human experience in general. - Consider Jung’s view of personality and complete an informal personality assessment. - Apply one’s own personality to one’s life and social interactions with others. - Analyze and evaluate Jung’s perspective in general with a particular emphasis on personality. Limited to 20 participants Coordinator: Steve Quigley Steve Quigley is a retired old man. When not retired he was a semiconductor engineer and manager at IBM, with previous assignments at Motorola, National Semiconductor, and Bell Laboratories. He holds a couple of degrees, none having to do with Psychology, nor bias mitigation. Hence it should be a learning experience for us all.
