Corsica River: Study of Living Watershed

Course Description

Corsica River: A Case Study of a Living Watershed Past, Present, Future Most if not all IAL students live in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and many also live in the Corsica River Watershed. Learn about the workings of a watershed and Corsica River’s historic and current uses. We’ll talk about underwater grasses and shoreline plants, and the wildlife that inhabit and use the river. Learn about ongoing work to restore the river and how to help with its restoration. Classroom work will be supplemented by field work Coordinator: Gayle Jayne Location: Kennard with supplemental field trips to Millstream Park and/or Conquest Beach The course will be taught by board members of the Corsica River Conservancy (CRC) and experts. The Corsica River Conservancy works to develop and maintain a constituency to restore and preserve the Corsica River and its surrounding lands through direct action, partnerships, and enhanced environmental awareness. Gayle Jayne has been home gardening for many years and a Maryland Master Gardener for over 25 years. She raises vegetables and herbs and landscapes with native plants. She volunteers for ShoreRivers and the Corsica River Conservancy in addition to Maryland Master Gardeners.
