Course Description
Benito Perez Galdos is Spain’s greatest novelist after Cervantes. Published in 1989, Misericordia is a classic of Spanish literature, required reading in colleges and universities. Misericordia is to Spanish-speaking cultures what Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations is to English-speaking societies. The novel is full of unforgettable characters and deals with fundamental and universal issues like charity, compassion, loyalty, truth, friendship, faith, hope, realism, and fantasy. Reading and discussing Misericordia is a truly memorable experience. Limited to 20 participants English translations will be loaned to participants Instructor: Raymond Vergne
