Course Description

The Hidden Dangers of Microplastics and How to Responsibly Manage Plastic Waste Session 1 — The Problem (Bente): Shortened version of “Plastic Detox” + what plastic does to our bodies + the Industry’s recycling misinformation Session 2 — The Response (Bente + Ginger): what individuals can do + the systemic/policy layer (Maryland EPR) Session 3 — Recycle It, Compost It, or Toss It? A Queen Anne's County Guide to Flexible Packaging (Ginger): hands-on recycling, composting, and packaging end-of-life. Instructors: Bente Cooney and Ginger Cushing Bente Cooney is co-founder and president of Plastic Free QAC, a lobbyist, and author of a presentation titled “The Good, the Bad, the Ugly.” Ginger Cushing is a polymer scientist. She helps consumer products companies develop sustainable packaging.
